Meghan Markle's half-sister slams Prince Harry's claim the royals are the family she 'never had' - Fox News

Meghan Markle's half-sister has a bone to pick with her future brother-in-law.

Samantha Grant, who shares a father with the "Suits" actress, sounded off on Twitter after Prince Harry made some comments about his family's Christmas celebrations with his fiancée Markle.

He said in a recent interview with BBC Radio 4, "There's always that family part of Christmas [where] there's always that work element there as well, and I think together we had an amazing time... [Meghan's] getting in there and it's the family I suppose that she's never had."

Grant fired back on social media, "Actually she [Markle] has a large family who were always there with her and for her."

She added "our household was very normal" and when Markle's mother Doria and their father Tom Markle divorced, "we all made it so it was like she had two houses."

"Meg's family (our family) is complete with sister, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the glue of our family, our amazing completely self-sacrificing father. She always had this family... Marrying merely extends it."

Grant then insisted "no one was estranged" but Markle was "just too busy" to spend a lot of time with them.

Harry and his American actress wife-to-be stayed with his brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, for the holiday.

Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, and father Tom Markle divorced in 1987 when the actress was 6 years old.

In addition to Grant, Markle has a half-brother, Thomas Markle Grant Jr.

The "Suits" actress reportedly has an estranged relationship with her older sister, and Samantha Grant is shopping a tell-all about growing up with Markle.

Grant has spoken ill of Markle in the past saying, "Hollywood has changed her. I think her ambition is to become a princess… The truth would kill her relationship with Prince Harry."

Markle and the prince are set to marry on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

The couple announced their engagement on Nov. 27. Harry proposed with a ring he designed which included two diamonds from the late Princess Diana’s jewelry collection. The main stone was sourced from Botswana.

They met after they were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend in July 2016.

Harry said during their first post-engagement interview he fell in love with the actress “so incredibly quickly” and felt like the “stars were aligned.”

Jonas Mekas, pictured at a gallery in Bushwick and at home in Clinton Hill, still has several books and films to complete. After that, he said, “I’d like to travel.”

Francesco Ragazzi had a theory about Jonas Mekas. “In a way,” he said one morning in October, “everybody now can be Jonas Mekas.”

Mr. Ragazzi, 33, an art curator from Milan, was in town to assemble an exhibition of Mr. Mekas’s work at a fashion boutique on Madison Avenue, and he was noting the resemblance between the diary-based films Mr. Mekas started making in the 1970s and the social media that followed decades later.

“But,” he said, “there is only one Jonas Mekas still. So I think we need to ask ourselves why. Because I think if everybody will be Jonas Mekas one day, the world will be saved. We need to keep going in this direction, becoming Jonas Mekas.”

Mr. Mekas this year made progress toward a goal that has driven him since the start of the series: raising money to expand Anthology Film Archives, the nonprofit organization and theater he helped start in the 1970s.

On March 2, a crowd that included Greta Gerwig, Jim Jarmusch, John Waters and others bid nearly $2 million at an art auction to benefit the archives. Performing onstage, Patti Smith altered the lyrics to her biggest hit to “Because the night belongs to JONAS,” to big applause.

For Mr. Mekas it was a year of reckoning: how much money the organization still needs to raise ($6 million); how far was too far to travel at age 95 (Seoul, where he did not attend an exhibition of his work); and how to make ends meet in the coming years.

This last was a trickier matter. He could no longer afford the rent on his Brooklyn loft, he said. “I have to move to a cheaper place,” probably within a year, he said.

But Mr. Mekas put the disruption in perspective. His life has been nomadic since the 1940s, including years in Nazi labor camps and United Nations camps for displaced persons. Moving to a smaller place somewhere in Brooklyn was a hiccup.

“It’s a necessity and it’s realistic and I need to do it and you do it,” he said. “It’s nothing. This is just another stop, and there will be another stop.”

Mr. Mekas also published a book of anecdotes and autobiographical images this year, “A Dance With Fred Astaire,” named for a Yoko Ono and John Lennon movie in which Mr. Mekas and Mr. Astaire both make dancing cameos. Another five or six books were almost ready, and a couple of films still needed finishing. After that, he said, “I’d like to travel.”

For now, he said, “I’m thinking about resistance. What does it mean, resistance? What kind of resistance do we need today? Technology is now being used, much of it, for negative purposes. So to resist all what is happening negatively in humanity or technology is to develop the — O.K., this banal word, spiritual aspect.”

He remained sanguine, despite some reservations about current world leaders. Totalitarianism, in his experience, did not endure, whereas art, nature and the teachings of the saints all were as powerful as ever — they were what composed his life. He did not use the word optimistic, but he felt that solutions were more durable than problems.

“To go back and introduce into all the schools art, to cut down on sports but bring arts, philosophy back into all educational systems,” he said. “And that’s what’s being cut everywhere. And I think that’s one of the sad and tragic parts of where we are. Education is the resistance to everything that is bad today.”

So ends another year for four members of New York’s oldest old: not with a whimper, but with small joys to ease their aches. Each lost a little and moved a year closer to death, as we all did. But each welcomed another morning, the start of another year to come. All had beaten the odds just to get this far.

As Ms. Willig said, “You think we’ll make another year, you and me?”

Steelers player gives shocking details on James Harrison's final days in Pittsburgh - CBSSports.com

It's not often that an NFL player will completely rip a former teammate in public, but that's exactly what Steelers linebacker Bud DuPree did when he was asked about James Harrison on Wednesday.

There's definitely some bad blood between Harrison and the Steelers, and that became clear early Wednesday when several Steelers players bashed their former teammate. According to multiple players, Harrison forced his way out of Pittsburgh by being a bad teammate. However, since no one offered any specific details, it was hard to say what exactly Harrison did wrong.

That mystery might finally be solved, though, thanks to DuPree, who went off on Harrison during an interview with CBS Sports radio's 93.7 the Fan in Pittsburgh late Wednesday. Here's a quick summary of what DuPree had to say about Harrison from the man who conducted the interview, Paul Zeise.

Dupree said Harrison would leave the stadium as soon as he found out he was inactive the past four or five weeks, often didn’t practice or attend meetings and rarely would come in the locker room. Said he wouldn’t visit Ryan Shazier in hospital, either.

Yikes. That's definitely one way to force a team's hand. If everything that DuPree said is true, then the Steelers really didn't have any choice but to cut Harrison. It's also easy to see why DuPree wanted to get all of this off his chest.

"That's basically what happened," Dupree said during the interview, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "At the end of the day, he just did a lot of stuff that really wasn't Steeler-like. ... It's no one's fault on our team, why he got cut. He cut himself. He came in, he didn't want to do anything that made us better."

From skipping practices to leaving games to not visiting Shazier in the hospital, you can't blame the Steelers at all for dumping Harrison. Also, when Harrison wasn't skipping team meetings, he would apparently just show up and take a nap.

Among ways Harrison tried to get himself out of Pittsburgh, one team source said Harrison was known to sleep in a recliner chair during position meetings and snore loudly while Joey Porter would teach.

Apparently, DuPree felt it was important to get the story because a lot of people have been ripping the Steelers over the past few days for cutting a veteran like Harrison. According to DuPree, the Steelers wanted to keep him, but he made it impossible.

"People going in on coach [Mike] Tomlin, saying the Steelers are stupid for cutting James Harrison, the Steelers are dumb, [Harrison's] gonna tell the whole -- if he tells the whole playbook, that's his fault," DuPree said. "I didn't see him in meetings, so I don't know if he knows the plays or not."

The Steelers linebacker believes that Harrison signed with New England as a way to spite the Steelers.

"It feels like he went to the Patriots just to spit in Coach Tomlin and Mr. Rooney's face. That's all it was to us," Dupree said. "Like basically you spit on your teammates, you spit on us because the whole season you've been shown as someone different than what you were supposed to, so-called, be to us -- other than a leader."

DuPree also said that Harrison had an interest in being a leader to younger guys in Pittsburgh.

"When someone really doesn't want to share wisdom with you or share knowledge with you because they feel like you're gonna take their shine or take their limelight, that's how we feel," DuPree said. "We tried to hold back as much as we could because we didn't wanna jeopardize making him look bad."

Dupree, who was in his third year as a teammate of Harrison's, even complained about the 39-year-old's wild workout videos. According to DuPree, everyone would always get mad at Harrison for showing off in the weight room because the rest of the team wasn't even allowed to lift the way Harrison was lifting.

"It's not that we don't choose to work out like [Harrison works] out," DuPree said. "The strength coaches, they won't even allow us to lift how he lifts. He's in the weight room, making all those videos before practice, calling us out. Now you're making them look at us, like, so me and T.J. aren't supposed to be playing? That's just how we feel."

As for Harrison, he didn't deny that he wanted out. During an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the new Patriots linebacker admitted that he asked the Steelers to release him several times this year.

"After the first week of the season, I said to them, it's clear you want to play your younger guys and I understand, so why don't you release me," Harrison said. "You go on your way and I'll go on mine. They said, 'No, no, no, we got a role for you.'"

For Harrison, the decision to sign with the Patriots all came down to business.

"I explained the situation to [Steelers linebackers coach Joey Porter] and he said, 'I'm not going to sit here and tell you not to do something when you're making a business decision,'" Harrison said. "I made a decision based on what was best for me."

That business decision could lead Harrison right back to the Steelers because the Patriots could end up facing them in the AFC title game.

The Kendall Jenner Pepsi commercial that aired in April received major backlash from people accusing of it of exploiting the Black Lives Matter moment. In the two-and-a-half minute ad, the model, 21, ended a multi-racial protest by simply handing a police officer a can of Pepsi.

Pepsi quickly issued an apology and announced that they were pulling the controversial commercial from the airwaves. “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding,” the company said in a statement. “Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”

Moonlight took home the win for Best Picture at the 2017 Oscars — but the winning moment will go down in WTF Oscar history forever thanks to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, who mistakenly announced La La Land as the winner in a colossal mix-up.

Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed in September that there would be no Sex and the City 3. “It’s over. Season 4 of Bachelor in Paradise was halted after a producer watched Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson getting hot and heavy in a pool and claimed sexual misconduct in the workplace. Both stars opted not to return to complete the season after a full investigation by Warner Bros. found no evidence of misconduct by any party.

Olympios and Jackson have since stepped out together several times, but insist the are just friends. “We’re extremely close. We talk, like, every day. We hang out. We do things that friends do,” Jackson exclusively told Us Weekly in October. He added that the reality star is “the most drop dead gorgeous girl in the whole world.”

Hours after the release of the gory picture on May 30, Griffin issued a video apology. “I’m just now seeing the reaction to these images. I’m a comic. I cross the line. I move the line then I cross it. I went way too far,” she said. “The image is disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career, I will continue. I ask your forgiveness.”

Griffin was interviewed by the Secret Service months after the photos were released. In July she confirmed on Twitter that she was no longer under federal investigation. “The case is closed,” she wrote. “I have been completely exonerated. Finally.”

Fyre Music Festival Leaves Thousands Stranded at Airport

The supposedly elite Fyre Festival, which “set out to provide a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience month on the Islands of the Exumas” in the Bahamas, was canceled after festivalgoers dubbed the event a mix between The Hunger Games and Lord of the Flies.

Tickets for Fyre Festival, which touted performances by Blink 182 and Daya, ranged from $1,000 to $12,000 and included a flight from Miami, a stay in a “geodesic dome,” cultural foods and activities such as jet skiing, snorkeling and kayaking.

But the reality was very different. According to tweets, robberies and food fights broke out due to a lack of accommodations, food and even electricity.

The festival, which was created by Ja Rule and tech entrepreneur Billy McFarland, then attempted to get everyone on flights back home, which left people waiting at the airport for hours.

The first lady came under fire for wearing a pair of sky-high Manolo Blahnik heels while en route to Houston to tour Hurricane Harvey damage in August. “Nothing says ‘disaster’ like stiletto heels,” tweeted one person. Added another: “How out of touch can you be?”

Blahnik himself came to her defense. “I don’t think she’s insensitive,” the designer explained to Harper Bazaar UK. “I think she’s working non-stop to make it work — possibly she was just wearing the shoes she left New York in. Yes, I think probably she could have worn Hunter boots but she was wearing what she was wearing.”

Abby Lee Miller Goes to Jail

Abby Lee Miller star was sentenced in May for bankruptcy fraud and brining $120,000 worth of Australian currency into the United States without reporting it. She reported to prison on July 12 in Victorville, California, to serve her 366 days behind bars. Leading up to her imprisonment, the former Dance Moms star told Us Weekly: “It’s surreal! I keep thinking someone’s gonna call and say, ‘Oh, it was a mistake!’”

It’s time for Final Thoughts and it seems only fitting to take a look back at 2017 and all we’ve accomplished.

In 2017 Donald J Trump became the 45th President of the United States which also means in 2017, a majority of Democrats turned into alt-left radical psychos - but we will get back to them later.

In less than a year Donald Trump has signed 96 laws in 2017. Now the anti-Trump crowd will try to diminish that achievement because the only laws they seem to care about are the ones that force you to buy health insurance or strip your Second Amendment rights. Well President Trump has done the opposite. In fact, according to an analysis by NPR, 16 of those 96 laws repeal rules and regulations saddled on us by our favorite Democrats.

Speaking of getting rid of stupid rules, this president also pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Accord, a U.N.-pushed resolution that does very little to help the actual environment but would’ve crushed American jobs and energy production.

But that’s not the only message our president delivered to the U.N. President Trump also recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, something his three predecessors promised but were too spineless to accomplish.

Let’s see, what else? Under this president, 80% of Americans will get a tax break. The individual mandate has been nixed and ANWR is now open for some good-old American energy production.

This president also nominated a Constitution-loving conservative to the Supreme Court - you’re welcome Never Trump “Republicans.”

This president has done a lot, a lot he will never get credit for, but the other side did a lot in 2017, too. Like… well… they protested… they resisted… they voted against a tax cut for 80% of Americans… they pardoned illegal immigrants in California… they praised whiny athletes for disrespecting the country, our veterans and our police officers. Yeah, they did a whole lot ... of nothing productive.

Meanwhile, middle America finally found its voice. We learned that the giant swath of land in the middle of the country, the "flyover states," are filled with patriotic, hardworking folks who are ready for an American comeback. Talk about a resurgence of hope.

But it wasn't all good news, there was plenty of fake news and I don't see that changing in 2018.

2017 was also the year of the pervert... ya know… dudes who can’t keep their hands to themselves. This year was a mixed bag. Here’s my hope for 2018. I hope that women will learn to stand up for themselves. Not just liberal women. All women. All Americans. Stand up for yourselves. Not for free things. Not for handouts. Not just against men or against Donald Trump. Stand for something.

And in closing, if your hatred for Donald Trump is greater than your love for this country, you never loved this country in the first place.

Here’s to 2018. For all the doors they slammed on us, we are coming to buy the building. Let’s do it and do it with American pride.
