Why Did 'The Little Couple' Move to Florida? Plus Details on Their Hurricane Evacuations - In Touch Weekly

The location of TLC's The Little Couple is about to change! In an upcoming promo for the new season — which follows the lives of Dr. Jen Arnold and Bill Klein and their children Will, 6, and Zoey, 5 — viewers will learn why the family decided to move from their home of Houston to St. Petersburg, FL. But their big move just happened right around the same time as two storms hit both cities, with Hurricane Harvey affecting southeast Texas and Hurricane Irma affecting much of south and central Florida.

In tonight's two-hour season premiere of The Little Couple, Bill and his brothers return to Houston to help people and pets who were affected by Hurricane Harvey, while Jen stood back in Florida with their kids and prepared for Hurricane Irma. When Bill returned from Texas, the family learned that there was a mandatory evacuation in their area so they packed up their things and headed north to stay with Jen's family — and she kept her followers updated on social media, even detailing the family's struggle to gas up their car to fuel their evacuation.

"Well there is no gas in Florida it seems, but we are fortunate — we actually did find some gas after quite some time," she said in a video. "But I can't believe how many gas stations are emptied."

The Arnold-Kleins arrived safely to their destination, but Jen did share that some of her family members chose to remain in Central Florida, despite suggestions to evacuate. "[The] kids are doing great and now we're just praying for the safety of our loved ones who are still in central Florida: my aunt and uncle in St. Petersburg and of course Bill's family on the East Coast. So please keep everybody in Irma's path in your prayers today," she said in another video.

Now that Hurricane Irma has come and gone, it seems like the reality TV family is back in their new home in Florida, where the family moved after Jen accepted a new position of medical director at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. The new job feels like a fresh start for Jen, who said in a statement that it's a "perfect fit."

"I'm thrilled to return home to Florida," Jen said. "The opportunity at Johns Hopkins All Children's is a perfect fit personally for me, my husband and two kids and professionally with the growing education and research resources at the hospital."

While anxieties around the relocation did arise, Bill agreed that it was a great decision. "While there might be a bit of remorse, at the end of the day, this is going to be a good move for everybody," Bill said . "There are so many big benefits to moving to Florida. We’ll be closer to family and they’ll have new things to explore."

The Little Couple season premiere airs on Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on TLC. Be sure to tune in — and check out the video below for details on the Jen and Bill's adorable kids!
