Peaky Blinders season 4: What happens next - and is Grace definitely dead? - The Week UK

Peaky Blinders season 4: What happens next - and is Grace definitely dead? - The Week UK

The third season of Peaky Blinders ended on a cliffhanger, with most of the Shelby family led away to jail cells.

Fans of the Birmingham crime drama were shocked by mob boss Tommy Shelby's apparent betrayal of his relatives, so will Cillian Murphy's charismatic anti-hero find a way to turn things around in season 4?

"Everything has changed," Murphy told Digital Spy. "I think his family think that he's betrayed them. It'll be up to Tommy to demonstrate to them that he hasn't betrayed them and that he has a bigger plan.

"The question is what that bigger plan is. Who's he gonna call? What's gonna happen to the family? Can he ever get that level of trust or love back again?"

What will happen next?

The Birmingham Mail, which has been closely following the fortunes of the quasi-fictional criminal gang, anticipates that blue-eyed gangster Tommy will fall in love again.

"We're still grieving for Grace and one of the shortest-lived marriages in TV drama. Ruthless Russian Tatiana was just a distraction, and certainly not someone to settle down with... Maybe he will buy another racehorse and need May's services?" it says.

Two actors cast in the next series have been mooted as potential love interests - Cherrelle Skeete and Esther Smith are "both Brummies" currently performing in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Could we see Grace return?

At the beginning of season 3, Tommy finally achieved a semblance of happiness as he married the woman he loved, Grace Burgess, a former undercover police agent who posed as a barmaid at the Garrison pub to get close to the crime boss.

However, almost as soon as the pair were married, Grace was shot and killed.

According to the actor who played her, Anabelle Wallis, the tragedy made sense in terms of the overall narrative.

"I think she was a reminder of a time and of a feeling that maybe had been very dormant within him through his PTSD after the war, through the life and family that he was embedded in. Therefore it had kind of chinked his armour as a human being," Wallis told Deadline.

But is Grace definitely dead? Many fans are suspicious over the death and think the character could return in season 4 – rumours Wallis herself has done little to deny.

"I have so many friends so obsessed with the show so I've had all these theories thrown my way of how: there's no funeral or he's done it to protect her," she said. "Some people are so devastated by her death that I've had to give them hope. So I'm just gonna go 'maybe' and hold onto my conspiracy theories."

Will Tommy retreat to Birmingham?

Where season three saw Tommy rise to new and unexpected social and professional heights, season four could – and should – see him return to his Brummie roots, says Inverse.

"One of fans' biggest gripes with Season 3 was that the Shelbys got too far, too fast," the site says. Tommy's country estate was a "far cry from the smokey grey Birmingham slums where they got their start". The shift from lowlife gangsters to high society was simply too great for many fans.

In the final episode of the season, Tommy tells Georgian Duchess Tatiana (Gaite Jansen): "I'm going back to Birmingham to buy a racehorse and have it trained."

According to Inverse, "the writers could have Tommy do something as drastic as retreat to America, but maybe he just needs to go home. When Season 4 rolls around he should retreat back to where it all began, re-arm, and get back on that figurative horse to avenge his family. Plus, who doesn't want to see them all hanging out at The Garrison again?"

Will Tommy give up crime?

Several critics suggest the next series will shift to follow Tommy's attempts to go straight - but Murphy's recent comments appeared to put paid to that notion.

"Because of what happened to [Tommy] in the First World War it's kind of - it's never gonna stop," he said. "He'll always be this man searching for something and I think that even if he achieves all this material wealth and he achieves some sort of position of power, I don't see him retiring with a pipe and slippers, that's for sure."

A new challenge to Tommy?

A key player next season could be Aunt Polly's son, Michael (Finn Cole). The Shelbys' long-lost cousin has gone from being a fresh-faced accountant adding an air of legitimacy to the company's dodgy dealings to a fully fledged gangster.

With two murders under his belt, could Michael have developed a taste for blood? He is looking "increasingly self-assured", writes Michael Hogan in the Daily Telegraph, and his ambition "could soon prove troublesome to Tommy".

Fans have even spotted a parallel between the Blinders' Michael and Michael Corleone of The Godfather: both are shielded from the family business and try to pursue legitimate business before ultimately being sucked into the murky underworld.

"After Tommy has passed Michael Shelby will most likely be the leader of the Peaky Blinders balancing both the illegal and the legal sides of business well just as Michael Corleone did by the end of The Godfather," predicts one Reddit user.

Of course, Michael Corleone inherited his family's crime empire after the peaceful death of his father. Tommy Shelby seems less likely to have a convenient heart attack – or will his cousin give him a helping hand?

Aunt Polly takes charge?

Series four isn't due to air until next year, but Helen McCrory, who plays Aunt Polly, has already given fans a teaser of what they can expect.

Speaking on the BBC's The Andrew Marr Show , the 47-year-old actor described how Polly had developed a taste for power while the Shelby brothers were off in the trenches.

"She'd been running the business while they'd been away," said McCrory, who is making use of the time between shooting to star in The Deep Blue Sea at the National Theatre.

"As far as she's concerned, they're doing it really badly, they're making mistakes, they're going in to other people's turfs."

Aunt Polly is determined to straighten things out and make the family business bigger than ever, she said. Her ambition "to balance a business" and "on the other hand balance the family" will see the Peaky Blinders go "further and further afield" in their quest for power, McCrory promised, adding: "You see why she's in charge."

How will Tommy win back his family's trust?

One way to find out what might be coming up in the next series is to ask the show's star. That is the approach The Independent took when it caught up with Murphy.

So did Tommy betray his family, the paper asked the Irish actor. Perhaps, he replied, but the Brummie gangster has a "bigger plan" to win back his family's trust.

At the start of Season 4, "everything has changed" for Tommy, Murphy says: "I think his family think that he's betrayed them. It'll be up to Tommy to demonstrate to them that he hasn't betrayed them and that he has a bigger plan.

"The question is what that bigger plan is. Who is he gonna call? What's gonna happen to the family? Can he ever get that level of trust or love back again?"

Asked whether Tommy might be planning a quieter, more peaceful life, Murphy replies: "Because of what happened to him in the First World War it's kind of… it's never gonna stop.

"He'll always be this man searching for something and I think that even if he achieves all this material wealth and he achieves some sort of position of power, I don't see him retiring with a pipe and slippers that's for sure!"

Does Tommy get under Murphy's skin?

Like viewers, Murphy finds his Peaky Blinders character fascinating - but he does like to forget about him between series, the actor told Harper's Bazaar.

"I leave him behind because I go off and play other characters and it's important that you can shake it off totally," he said. "But then I became a producer on this series [season 3], so you're kind of involved in the machinations of it, before the show and during it. It's always there, thinking about it.

"But the thing that I am most proud of about that show is that it started off as this very small little thing and it's grown in the right way, just by word of mouth, not by huge billboards or anyone forcing you to watch it. Our advertising was just: people liked it. It's grown very gradually and sort of - I hate using the word - organically."

Asked whether he finds himself drawn to dark characters, Murphy replied: "For me, drama is conflict.

"I'm not interested in a good man's life. I'm interested in contradiction. I'm interested in pressure, I'm interested in duress. All the great works of art, or film or literature, in my opinion, have elements of those in them. Because who wants to write about happy people?"

How long will Murphy be able to keep playing 'exhausting' Tommy?

In an interview filmed at the Black Country Living Museum, Murphy said it is a "big distance" for him to play a character willing to solve his problems with murder and that he has found himself "inhabited subliminally" by the role.

"It's very clear that this is a damaged guy who uses violence as a form of expression," he said, the Express and Star reports.

"It is a big distance for me to get to that and he is the sort of most capable person I have ever played and that's not me. You are inhabiting this character all the time and it affects you in a subliminal way, almost by osmosis.

"You have to concentrate a lot. He talks a lot, smokes a lot of fags and is also fighting all the time so it is exhausting," Murphy said.

Murphy also discussed the show's soundtrack, telling the audience: "I thought it was a terrible idea in the beginning to put contemporary music on a period show, I thought that was silly.

"But it seemed to work as the artists they chose were kind of these outlaw artists that seemed to work. Nick Cave was huge for me as he had to watch the show first before he agreed to give us his music.

"The fact he actually watched it was a big deal for me."

Will Michael come to blows with Tommy?

Fans of the series have mixed feelings about Aunt Polly's long-lost son Michael, who became a much more significant player in the last season. Some love him, but just as many loathe him, feeling that the character is too slight and his descent into criminality too swift. But like him or not the signs are there that he will play a large role in the next season, possibly even bumping heads with Tommy, says Cheat Sheet.

"Michael has had an interesting journey. He went from being an accountant to becoming a gangster. He has killed two people and doesn't seem to have any problem going after more. He left his girlfriend to get her abortion by herself. Now it sounds like Michael could potentially go up against Tommy himself," the site says.

The Daily Telegraph's Michael Hogan saw the same thing coming earlier this year, noting that over the course of the show, Michael has grown "increasingly self-assured" and that his own ambitions "could soon prove troublesome to Tommy."

While Hogan had predicted that the two men would clash last season, Tommy's apparent betrayal of his family could set up the confrontation next year.

When will season 4 be on the BBC and Netflix?

While the broadcast date for both the UK terrestrial TV and online has not yet been announced, if scheduling follows its previous pattern, new episodes should begin on the BBC towards the end of next spring and on Netflix shortly afterwards.

"Typically, what happens is that the series will start running in the UK first before heading over to… streaming services," says Bustle. "For example, Season 3 of Peaky Blinders premiered on May 5 and only became available on Netflix on May 31, so odds are Season 4 will follow a similar pattern."

The BBC commissioned seasons four and five at the same time, so it is likely they will reach us in 2017 and then 2018.

Filming has yet to begin on season four, but writer Steven Knight says he is already looking forward to get back to work. "The prospect of writing series four and five is truly exciting," he told the BBC. "I am genuinely thrilled at the response to the third series of the show."

Poldark series two: Can episode four beat ITV's Victoria? - The Week UK

Poldark series two: Can episode four beat ITV's Victoria? - The Week UK

Has Poldark lost its lustre? The BBC drama's first series was considered the must-see programme of Sunday evenings when it was screened last year. But series two is being regularly trounced in the ratings battle by another period piece, Victoria.

Last week saw ITV's historical tale increase its lead over the Cornish drama by half a million viewers. That might not be so surprising - while Jenna Coleman's Victoria married Prince Albert (Tom Hughes) in a lavish royal wedding, the antics of Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) and his gang proved to be, in the words of the Daily Express's Neela Debnath, "rather dull watching".

However, episode four was a totally different story. "Hold on to your hats," said Jasper Rees of the Daily Telegraph, reviewing an instalment that saw a birth, a narrowly-averted scurvy epidemic, a daring smuggling caper and family reconciliations - all within the space of an hour.

Despite all of this, though, the episode struggled to find its voice, says Rees. The plot meandered "like a boat searching in vain for a meaningful course through storm-tossed waters".

Viv Groskop in The Guardian agrees, saying that while lots of inconsequential subplots whizzed by, there was "nothing really moving" of substance until the end, when Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) gave birth to a baby boy.

"The human moments are when Poldark really comes alive," she says. Less focus on rambling storylines and more characterisation is the recipe for bringing back the show's mojo.

Poldark series two: All the highlights of episode three

23 September

After last week's life-and-death courtroom drama, "episode three proved to be a more sedate and slow-burn affair," says the Daily Express.

However, there was still plenty for fans to enjoy in the latest instalment. Here's everything you need to know about episode three of Poldark.

Ross was a bit of a rotter

"Tonight, for perhaps the first time, we saw a side to Aidan Turner’s hero that we might not like very much," says the Radio Times.

Yes, Poldark has always been more of a smouldering anti-hero than a knight in shining armour, but this week his antics bordered on downright despicable. Selling off Demelza's jewellery to pay a £400 debt was bad enough, but then the poor lass overhead Ross getting nostalgic with his erstwhile love Elizabeth at the harvest festival.

Even though Elizabeth put a stop to the sweet-talk, Demelza was understandably devastated to have her suspicions about the lingering feelings between the two confirmed. Will the baby patch up the rift in her marriage? Does it ever?

There's a new hunk in town

There was good news for viewers put off by Poldark's ungentlemanly conduct, as Ross's old comrade Captain McNeil arrived on the scene. He immediately demonstrated his chivalry by rescuing Demelza from the amorous attentions of the lecherous Sir Hugh.

Neglected by Ross, Demelza was visibly charmed by the handsome visitor and his praise for her "cow-doctoring", but some viewers were distracted by McNeil's… unusual accent. Bristol-born actor Henry Garrett's attempt at a Scottish brogue was variously described on social media as "bizarre", "abysmal" and "excruciating," the Daily Telegraph reports.

Jud came back from the dead

When Poldark's faithful – if perennially tipsy – manservant Jud broke ranks by refusing a payoff from George Warleggan to testify against his master at the Bodmin assizes last week, we knew he was heading for trouble.

After getting a seemingly fatal beating from Warleggan's goons, Jud was laid out for burial - only for the 'corpse' to vanish. The mystery was solved when Jud himself arrived on the scene, not dead after all – the old boy is is tougher than he looks. Turns out he was in the pub all along, highly offended to wake up and find his 'grieving' friends and widow carousing at his expense. "T'aint right, t'aint fair, t'aint fit, t'aint proper," indeed.

Lady Caroline and Dr Enys got a step closer to getting it on

Lady Caroline has always had a taste for double entendre that wouldn't be out of place in an episode of Are You Being Served but her saucy comments are now starting to verge on single entendre. When she spied Dr Enys and promptly started complimenting the Cornish 'scenery' – her eyebrows practically waggling with innuendo – it's hard to believe that even her dopey fiancé Unwin Trevaunance would fail to catch her drift.

Desperate to avoid her bumbling betrothed, Caroline got close to the real object of her affection using the oldest trick in the book: falling conveniently ill.

"I've seen more romantic set-ups than a man pulling a fish bone out of a lady's throat," writes Gerard O'Donovan in the Daily Telegraph, but the chemistry between the pair is undeniable, whatever the circumstances. Sparks flew as Enys rushed into action with his trusty tweezers, before doctor and patient shared a lingering look. But will Dr Enys speak up before Caroline becomes Mrs Unwin Trevaunance?

Poldark series two: Everything we learned from episode two

16 September

What a difference a week makes, at least in the world of Ross Poldark.

Last time viewers saw him, he had been stitched up like a kipper by the nefarious George Warleggan and faced the gallows on trumped-up charges of theft, rioting and murder.

This week's instalment saw Poldark win his freedom with a stirring, if somewhat improbable, courtroom speech that won over TV critics as well as the jury.

"The show belongs to Aidan Turner this week," says Digital Spy, singling out Poldark's "electric court scenes" as a highlight.

Elsewhere, another tragedy was averted as we learned that Francis did not kill himself after all in last week's cliffhanger ending, when he shut himself in his room with a pistol and apparently pulled the trigger. As it turns out, his life was saved thanks to unreliable 18th-century weaponry, his gun misfiring and leaving him sheepish but unharmed.

However, with Demelza's unexpected pregnancy, several dangerous flirtations, and a storm brewing between Poldark and Warleggan, there is plenty of drama on the horizon. Here's everything we know so far:

Poldark is free

Okay, so nobody really expected that the title character of a show already filming its next series would actually go to the gallows, but we did wonder how Poldark would manage to slip out of the noose clearly being readied for his shapely neck.

A stirring speech to the jury was all it took, it turns out. An unrepentant Ross defended the starving miners' plundering of the Warleggans' wrecked ship as a "Cornish tradition", in what The Guardian's Viv Groskop calls "an excellent TED talk on morality and self-belief". The jury were convinced, clearing Poldark of all charges. However, Ross's nemesis George Warleggan is unlikely to take this development lying down.

Francis isn't dead

Phew. Poldark's put-upon cousin didn't actually put an end to it all, despite his best efforts. In classic Francis style, he couldn't even shoot himself properly – the gun misfired, giving the poor lad a chance to reconsider. But now that he has chosen to remain on this mortal coil, he will have to make some difficult decisions, particularly with regards to his floundering marriage to frosty Elizabeth.

There's a baby on the way

Ross and Delmelza have barely buried their unfortunate firstborn when she realises that she is pregnant again - and who should she choose to confide in but Ross's old flame Elizabeth. However, Demelza seemed reluctant to share her news with Poldark himself, who understandably is still grieving for baby Julia.

"This could be the first sign of the much-rumoured rift that's supposedly going to occur between our favourite star-crossed lovers this series," notes Gerard O'Donovan in the Daily Telegraph.

Love is in the air for Dr Enys

Dr Enys may have been busy trying to save his friend from execution by concocting an insanity defence, but the medic still found time for some heavy flirtation with feisty newcomer Lady Caroline Penvenen.

Sparks flew as he traded barbs with the quick-witted heiress, but their snippy back-and-forth barely concealed their blatant attraction.

Lady C might be "written with all the subtlety of a Carry On movie sound-effect", says Cultbox, but who can blame her for being a bit forward when she faces a lifetime with her bratty betrothed MP Unwin Trevaunance.

The course of true love never runs smooth, and fans of the books on which the show is based will know that Lady Caroline and Dr Enys face more than a few obstacles in their path. However, scriptwriter Debbie Horsfield has been known to depart from the source material on more than one occasion, so viewers will have to wait to see how this romance pans out on screen.

Poldark season two: Questions for episode two

9 September

Warning: Spoilers for Poldark series 2, episode one

Poldark's long-awaited second series began on Sunday, taking viewers back to 18th century Cornwall to see what Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) and co have been up to since we saw them last.

After a 16-month absence from screens, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the first episode might break viewers in gently – but you'd be mistaken. The first episode got off to a flying start, galloping through a plot which saw Ross Poldark grieving his baby daughter, getting down and dirty in the mine, and finally being carted off to Truro jail after being stitched up by the villainous Warleggans.

With so much going on, episode one has left viewers with plenty of questions to ponder:

Should we really worry about Poldark?

Episode one was "crammed with suspense and foreboding, and beautifully done it was, too", says Viv Groskop in The Guardian. But how much suspense could there really be about Poldark's fate when this is the first of a ten-episode series? Indeed, he "seems remarkably unfazed by his imminent demise", agreed Sam Wollaston, also in The Guardian. Perhaps this is because no one would "dare to separate Poldark's magnificent head from Poldark's magnificent torso".

Will Elizabeth save Poldark?

Plot-wise, just how is Poldark going to get out of this mess? Could his first love, Elizabeth (Heida Reed), seduce George Wollaston and persuade him to rescue Poldark, as Viv Groskop suggests. "Use your womanly power!" urges Groskop. "What else is the point of your mahoosive hair?" But it's a dangerous game for Elizabeth, who has now succeeded in offending her husband Francis, as well as Poldark, Demelza and George.

Did Francis really kill himself?

Poldark and his impending trial might have been the focus of episode one's drama, but by the end of the hour all eyes were on Francis.

Long-suffering Francis has struggled with drunkenness, gambling and feelings of inadequacy – and who can blame him, with his own wife keeping her distance and clearly still pining for Poldark. At the end of the episode, it apparently all got too much, and shocked viewers saw him shut himself away with a flintlock pistol before the episode ended with a literal bang. But did he really go through with it?

Lets hope not, says Gerard O'Donovan in the Daily Telegraph. Francis is more than just a character, "he is a brilliant dramatic device", serving as "a mirror held up to heroic Ross Poldark (who's flawed in all the right ways)".

Is Ross and Demelza's relationship in danger?

Ross and Demelza's relationship has always been at the centre of the drama, but things have not worked out well for them. The episode set a more sombre tone for the series, with Demelza grieving for her lost child, but the couple do seem to have developed a more tender relationship. So what about the rumours of imminent infidelity and marital strife? We will have to wait and see.

Who has Caroline set her eyes on?

The first episode of series two also introduced some new characters, including John Nettles as Ray Penvenen and Gabriella Wilde as his heiress niece Caroline – along with her Paris-Hilton-style canine companion. There was certainly a twinkle when Caroline swept into town and gave Poldark the once over. But after her encounter with the noble doctor Dwight Enys, perhaps she will be too distracted to give the beleaguered Poldark another thought.

What will happen to the mine?

Speaking of the good doctor, actor Luke Norris, who plays Enys, has dropped a few hints about what's in store for 18th century Cornwall's favourite bromance.

"Some people have said Ross and Dwight’s friendship is very modern," he told the Radio Times. "And I think we were hoping for that."

Besides their very 21st century friendship, Norris reminded viewers that the pair are also united in an important professional collaboration. "Ross's grand project of a self-sustaining mining community requires a good doctor, particularly with diphtheria threatening lives," he said.

Which, of course, leads to another question: with Poldark facing the gallows, what will become of his pet project to restore his mining business and get the penniless locals in gainful employment? Based on Norris' comments, it doesn't sound too idyllic. Disease and poverty are going to make things "pretty bleak" in season two, he told the Radio Times, leaving his character "snowed under" with work.

However, in episode one Poldark proved that he was willing to strip down and muck in at the mine (to the delight of female viewers), so perhaps all is not lost…

Borderlands 3 Release Date, Latest News & Rumors: Scooter is going to die with leaving an heir - Fabnewz Media (blog)

Borderlands 3 Release Date, Latest News & Rumors: Scooter is going to die with leaving an heir - Fabnewz Media (blog)

Developed by Gearbox Software, Borderlands is a series of action role-playing first-person shooter video game which is hugely popular among the hardcore gamers. After the release of ‘Borderlands’ in 2009 and ‘Borderlands 2’ in 2012, fans are eagerly waiting for the next iteration of the series, ‘Borderlands 3’ to be released. Though the makers announced back in January 2015 that the future edition of the series is currently going through the development stage, they did not utter a single word about when the game will be released for the fans. So in this article, we will talk about the Borderlands 3 release date, the latest news and rumours.

Borderlands 3 release date

Borderlands 3 Release Date

Along with the fans, we also expected, that Borderlands 3 would make an appearance at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), but that did not happen eventually. The makers of the game, Gearbox was busy in making another first-person shooting game, ‘Battleborn’ as the first downloadable content (DLC) of the game has been released, the company is now entirely shifting their focus on highly anticipated “Borderlands 2” sequel.

‘Borderlands 2’ was the best-selling title in 2K’s history and has sold “well over” 12 million copies. So the makers are definitely pushing to make the sequel happen and the Randy Pitchford, the President of Gearbox has twice confirmed about the development of this first person shooting game at PAX South 2015 and PAX East 2016 in April.

Also, the makers may dub the game with a different name, not necessarily as Borderlands 3. Pitchford recently said in an interview, “And why would it be called Borderlands 3?” Later he added,”What if it’s Borderlands 4 – there are already three Borderlands games. What if it’s Borderlands 5? What we call it and what it is are things we care about, and we’re engaged about, but it would be irresponsible to share anything at this stage because almost certainly anything we’re thinking now is going to change between now and when we commit ourselves.”

But he assured that the next part of the Borderlands or better Borderlands 2 sequel would be released “There’ll almost certainly be more Borderlands, but we need to figure out what that is.” But he did not want comment on anything about the game at this moment, “because almost certainly anything we’re thinking now is going to change between now and when we commit ourselves.” Albeit, whether Borderlands 3 will be released soon or not it is still unclear as the President said, “It depends on how you define soon,”

The main reason Borderlands 3 get so much delay is the way the game ends in the previous instalment. At the last scenes of the Borderlands 2, the main characters discovered kind of a new galaxy map of active vaults on other solar systems. So this indicates the Borderlands 3 may come with a new map which will give the gamers larger game world to play and discover.

Moreover, the ending of Borderlands The Pre-Sequel indicates of a massive team-up of living Vault Hunters to ready for war. The Watcher who saved Athena from being executed in the game indicated this.Apart from that, the characters from the Tales from the Borderlands could also join the fight and make the storyline more enriched and more interesting for the fans as well . So as the developers are trying to include fresh and new ideas in the game, they are taking more time to release the game officially.

Not only that, Gearbox is also trying to improve their multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) FPS titles in a way so that they could successfully contend with the competitors like  “Overwatch” by Blizzard Entertainment. The main reason the developers are highlighting on this issue is, although Gearbox introduced a new character named as Ernest, it’s still reportedly got low count. So introducing new characters are not a solution these days and the developers are working to make the Borderlands 3 visually stunning.

So if we consider the pattern of the past edition’s launch date, we think, Gearbox will set the release date of ‘Borderlands 3’ on September or October 2018.

Borderlands 3: Latest News & Rumors

The Creative Chief of Gearbox and the writer of the company‘s mainline Brothers in Arms games, Mikey Neumann, is writing the next iteration of the Borderlands series. Neumann also wrote the first edition of the video game. So when the journalists asked him about the storyline of the upcoming Borderlands 3, he jokingly replied, “Everyone dies horribly.”

But, on a serious note, the creative champion gave a hint about the character Scooter from ‘Tales from the Borderlands’ which might be referenced in ‘Borderlands 3’. Moreover, Neumann is also considering about introducing a new character in the upcoming edition, and he will be Scooter’s son, named as Scooper and will appear with a super high-pitched voice. Neumann said, “I did this whole Scooter thing, then I pitch-shifted it up like seven semitones so it sounds like a chipmunk and it was the funniest thing I’d ever heard,”.

The main reason for introducing this character is to please Pitchford’s wife, the wife who was devastated by Scooter’s fate in ‘Tales from the Borderlands’. Moreover, Pitchford also warned that Scooter might not make it into the upcoming edition of the Borderlands. The CEO further advised the ‘Battleborn’ players to “look deeply” into the game for the content details as the game will come with some references to Borderlands 3.

If we talk about the title of this upcoming first-person shooting game, during the Pax East Conference, Pitchford mentioned that ‘Borderlands 3’ may be released with a different title, which paved the way for more speculations to come out. He warned about not getting too much attached with the title and said, “We don’t even know if we’re going to call it [Borderland 3]”. We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know.”

Pitchford also tweeted that the company is going reveal some or major brand-new updates about the ‘Borderlands 3’ along with games like “Duke Nukem,” “Homeworld” and “Battleborn” at the PAX West Conference which was held last week.  But it seemed like all the hype and the enthusiasm among the fans regarding this third instalment of the game went in complete vain as Gearbox Software hadn’t revealed anything major and had only briefly mentioned the game at the much-anticipated event.

Although these all things are still only speculations and the makers are certainly keeping things under the wraps for obvious reasons, “What we call it and what it is are things we care about and we’re engaged about but it would be irresponsible to share anything at this stage” but things will surely change during this one year until the official release, “certainly anything we’re thinking now is going to change between now and when we commit ourselves.” So stay with us for more updated information on Borderlands 3 release date and news. We promise we will post anything and everything as soon as any news will break on the internet regarding this awesome game.

Moreover, Borderlands 3 will be launched with a true open world, carrying forward the trend of the previous games like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Fallout.”Although nothing has been finalised yet, the gamers are expecting  a massive enhancement in the interactive nature and the environment of the upcoming instalment of this successful gaming franchise. Apart from that, Borderlands 3 is also expected to flaunt an improved gameplay and will come with some new excellent features.

So stay with us for more updated information on Borderlands 3 release date and news. We promise we will post anything and everything as soon as any news will break on the internet regarding this awesome game.

Star Wars 8: Kylo Ren 'is not Han and Leia's son' - The Week UK

Star Wars 8: Kylo Ren 'is not Han and Leia's son' - The Week UK

Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens was both praised and criticised for its echoes of the original film trilogy.

One of the most explicit parallels between the first three episodes and JJ Abrams' reboot was the death of Han Solo at the hands of Kylo Ren, which many fans saw as mirroring Darth Vader's fatal duel with his son, Luke Skywalker.

Most assumed that yet another Skywalker had killed his own father – Kylo's mother, Princess Leia Organa, being Luke's sister.

But according to a new theory, Kylo Ren may not be Han and Leia's son at all – but rather a nephew or more distant relative.

"If you watch through The Force Awakens, never once is it specifically said that Kylo is Han and Leia's son," says Reddit user LemmyGhost.

"Han will say things such as 'We miss you' and Leia will say things such as 'Bring our son home'. I am fairly sure Kylo will end up being their nephew, [while] the son they speak of is a different character."

LemmyGhost adds: "Every single line is written in a veiled sort of way, so that later when their true son is revealed we can re-watch and see that this was never specifically said."

Not everyone agrees with the theory, however. Another user says the novel Bloodline, which is regarded as part of the new official Star Wars cannon, confirms the relationship.

"I saw this theory around a few months ago but there's no doubt after Bloodlines," says DremoraGirl. "He's their son 100 per cent."

All may be revealed when Star Wars 8 is released in December 2017.

Adam Driver: Star Wars 8  'similar to Empire Strikes back'

16 September

Actor Adam Driver has said the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII is similar to The Empire Strikes Back, leading fans to wonder if the film will be darker than The Force Awakens.

Speaking to Collider, the Kylo Ren actor described the script as "great" and said he was delighted that new writer-director Rian Johnson's script had not been dumbed down.

Driver said: "It's similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone. For that people always go 'oooh, it's dark', but I don't know that it necessarily is.

"It's just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear. He trusts [that] his audience is ready for nuance and ambiguity. He's not dumbing anything down for someone and that's really fun to play."

Driver was full of praise for Johnson, who has had to pick up the thread from JJ Abrams, the director of The Force Awakens. He said: "Rian is coming into something that we kind of set up and he just took it to the next level in a really great way.

"He wrote it, too, and Rian's writing is so clear. I learned a lot of things about my character through his writing.

"To understand what JJ was doing and take ownership from there is kind of a remarkable thing."

Driver was asked if the team had felt under increased pressure after a successful movie from Abrams – on top of the existing responsibility of carrying the torch for a movie franchise that began almost 40 years ago.

He said: "The stakes are even higher, I think. No one's relaxing. Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I didn't feel more relaxed as if we'd accomplished anything.

"It's not my job to worry about the bigger picture or what it means or try to appease a certain group of people. It's my job to read the script, be prepared, and be generous to the other people that I'm acting with in order to tell the best version of the story that Rian came up with."

Star Wars 8: From Darth Vader to Kylo Ren - is the Skywalker family cursed?

8 September

Star Wars is a tale of intergalactic battles, futuristic mysticism and glowing laser swords, but it also charts the fortunes of a single family: the Skywalkers. Through seven films, three generations of Skywalkers have seen many highs, but even more lows - leading fans on Reddit to speculate that the Jedi clan might be cursed.

In a post discussing why Luke Skywalker disappeared between the end of Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens, Redditor Snokueis suggests that the hero's disappearance may be to do with his growing concern that his family is destined to struggle eternally with the temptations of the dark side of the Force.

"I strongly believe that Luke's decision to remain on Ach-To, in self-imposed exile, has to do with the Skywalker family origin," Snokueis writes. "Finding out he and his family are essentially born from the dark side would change him forever... Maybe he believes the Skywalkers are destined to be cursed because of this."

Could this be the reason why Luke apparently hid Rey on the desert planet Jakku? Perhaps, Snokeuis says, and for good reason: he may have been trying to protect Rey - who Snokeuis believes is his daughter - from the fate that has befallen the rest of his family.

"Is Rey his daughter? Probably. Maybe after finding out about his family origin, he hid her away in the hope that she would never have to suffer the Skywalker curse," he says.

The Skywalker family history is a fairly sorry one. Luke's father, Anakin Skywalker, was born into a life of slavery on the remote planet of Tatooine. He was enslaved to a junk dealer, but was eventually freed by a Jedi named Qui-Gon Jinn who believed the young boy to be the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy who would bring balance to the Force.

After training to become a Jedi, Anakin gradually became overwhelmed by his own baser instincts and soon turned to the dark side of the Force. Challenging his former master Obi-Wan Kenobi to a duel, Anakin was cut down and left limbless and close to death. Placed in a life-supporting armoured suit, he then aligned himself with the evil Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and served as the general of the Imperial army - changing his name to Darth Vader.

Luke's history is just as fraught. Having been abandoned by his father, Luke grew up an orphan with very little knowledge of his family history. Ultimately he was drawn into the galactic conflict between the Empire and the Rebellion, and ended up having to battle and kill his own father.

Luke's sister, Leia, saw her estranged husband Han Solo killed by her son, Kylo Ren, who, like his grandfather was lured to the dark side and into the arms of the First Order.

So is averting further tragedy Luke's reason for hiding himself away for 30 years? All will be revealed when Star Wars 8 is released in December 2017.

Star Wars 8: Will we meet Darth Vader's father?

01 September

Another day, another alleged Star Wars 8 leak.

This time the latest rumour doing the rounds concerns the parentage of Darth Vader, thus solving the mystery of Luke Skywalker's hitherto unknown grandfather.

The news comes courtesy of the Star Wars Theory YouTube channel, which says a "script leak" from the next instalment of the long-running Star Wars saga has a pivotal scene in which Luke comes face-to-face with the evil Supreme Leader Snoke, the new villain introduced in last year's blockbuster, The Force Awakens.

According to the channel, Snoke implies he met Vader at one point and adds: "After all, what father doesn't see his own creation."

So could it be possible? Movie Web says "the mystery of Darth Vader's father is one that has been lingering for quite some time. In The Phantom Menace, Anakin's mother Shmi revealed that there was no biological father and that it was more of an immaculate conception sort of situation."

Of course, Snoke may be speaking of creation in a metaphorical sense rather than a literal one. Perhaps he helped turn Anakin to the Dark Side, for example.

However, if his words are meant to be taken literally, "it would at the very least fit into the theme of the Star Wars saga movies being one hell of a family drama", Movie Web says.

In other Star Wars 8 news, Making Star Wars is once again claiming that Rey's visions will play an important role in the sequel.

Her insights will reportedly give us more of a backstory for Luke and his self-imposed Jedi exile on the planet of Ahch-To.

"The sequence appears to involve Rey, Luke Skywalker, Artoo, Kylo Ren and dead bodies of youthful characters," says the website.

The sight of an inactive adult Rey at the scene means this is "probably a continuation of the flashback sequence Rey began on Takodana - Rey appears to be a bystander, making us think this is her vision of the past seen from her perspective", it adds.

The visions also seem to confirm that a number of children will appear as Luke's Padawans.

"Yes, it looks like we’ll be witnessing more of the horrible massacre at Luke Skywalker's new Jedi Temple, placing spree killing alongside patricide in Kylo Ren’s lengthening register of unforgivable crimes," says iDigital Times.

Star Wars 8 will be released in December 2017.

Stranger Things season 2: Is Millie Bobby Brown returning, and everything else you need to know - Telegraph.co.uk

Stranger Things season 2: Is Millie Bobby Brown returning, and everything else you need to know - Telegraph.co.uk

Warning: this article contains spoilers

Stranger Things, Netflix’s eerie horror pastiche that mixes elements of Steven Spielberg, Stephen King and John Carpenter, has been the surprise hit of the summer – and it's coming back for a second season in 2017, it was announced earlier this month.

A new video, posted on the Stranger Things Twitter page, has also confirmed the episode titles for the new season, triggering furious speculation among fans of the show.

Created by the Duffer brothers, the series is set in small-town Indiana in 1983, and spins a nostalgic yarn of missing children, psychic phenomena, and things that go bump in the night.

If you’re reading this, then the likelihood is that you’ve made it to the end of season one, with Eleven (Millie B Brown) having just sacrificed herself to defeat the faceless creature, and Will (Noah Schnapp) recovering from his ordeal in the Upside Down.

Here, then, is what we know – and what we're hoping to find out – about the second series, which co-creator Matt Duffer has said will be "a little bit different... a little bit darker":

Is Millie Bobby Brown going to be in season two?

The end of season one left fans of Eleven – notably her admirer Mike – in flux: would she return for the next season, or had the telekinetic child left this dimension for another? Millie Bobby Brown, the 12-year-old British actress who plays her, has cast her second season involvement into doubt after an interview with Lorraine on Thursday.

"I'm not sure if I'm going to be in it but it's fantastic, has great writers and directors... it will be good," she told the chat show host.

Who are the new characters?

TVLine have managed to glean some information about the casting in the new series, and it looks like there will be new characters coming to Hawkins.

One of them is a 12-14-year-old girl called Max, who is described as "tough and confident" and whose "appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era". Instead of riding a bike like Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Will and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Max will use a skateboard to get around Hawkins. Could she be the subject of the episode called Madmax?

Max has a brother named Billy who shares her traits. The "very muscular and hyper-confident" Billy drives a Camaro, but that's all we know about him so far.

The third new addition to the Stranger Things cast is Roman, a gender-neutral role for an actor in their thirties who "suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since".

The question mark continues to hang over Eleven's involvement after the dramatic events of season one, with the Duffer Brothers saying her role remains "up in the air". What does Max's introduction mean for Eleven and the rest of the boys?

Meanwhile, we imagine Millie Bobby Brown will be keeping busy regardless – especially after her highly impressive cover of Nicki Minaj this week

What are the new episode titles?

Good news: this time round, we're getting an extra helping of Stranger Things. The second series will consist of nine episodes, in contrast to season one's eight.

  1. Madmax
  2. The boy who came back to life
  3. The Pumpkin Patch
  4. The Palace
  5. The Storm
  6. The Pollywog
  7. The Secret Cabin
  8. The Brain
  9. The Lost Brother

Who is 'The Lost Brother'?

Fans have already been poring over the episode titles for season two to try and work out some plot clues.

Most intriguing is the name given to the final episode: "The Lost Brother". On Reddit, fans are suggesting that this could be a previously unmentioned biological brother of Eleven. Or could it be a reference to the other children who were presumably experimented on at the Hawkins National Laboratory?

Speculation is mounting, too, that Mike may find himself in the Upside Down in search of the missing Eleven: "Eleven is gone," wrote one user. "Perhaps Mike ends up where ever she is? And if it is indeed the upside down, then Will may offer glimpses into their whereabouts."

What is a Pollywog?

Not to be confused with the aquatic Pokémon character Poliwag, a Pollywog is actually less mysterious than it sounds: it's another name for a tadpole. Remember that slug that Will coughed up in the stomach-churning climax of season one? Perhaps the Pollywog is a "demogorgon" at laval stage and it's currently using Will's body as an incubator Alien-style...

Alternatively, a Pollywog could be a play on the term "bullywug", fictional monsters from Dungeons & Dragons that are described as "a violent race of marsh-dwelling frog-like humans". Just in case you thought you'd seen the last of the likes of the "demogorgon".

Could the boys dress up as Ghostbusters?

We really hope this fan theory comes true:

I've been throwing this idea around with friends since I finished the show, and now I think it might actually happen:

Fall 1984 and the Pumpkin Patch title seem to imply Halloween will be involved. What awesome flick came out in summer 1984 that our boys probably loved?

Calling it now: we get a scene with Lucas, Will, Mike and Dustin dressed as the Ghostbusters.

Is Eleven dead?

Almost certainly not. Yes, she appeared to vaporise herself along with the “demogorgon” with her telekinetic powers, but consider the season’s “One Month Later” coda: Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) is seen placing a Tupperware box and an Eggo – the brand of frozen waffle that Eleven loves – in a crate in the woods. Clearly he thinks she’s still about, and Matt Duffer has all but confirmed this. “Obviously something happened to [Eleven] when she destroyed and killed that monster and we don’t know where she went,” he told Variety. “But we like the idea of potentially putting her and Hopper together.”

What’s going to happen to Will?

Noah Schnapp as Will Byers  Noah Schnapp as Will Byers  Credit: Netflix

As we left Will, he was still seeing glimpses of the Upside Down, and was vomiting up alien slugs. “Will’s been [in the Upside Down] for an entire week,” said co-creator Ross Ruffer, “and it’s had some kind of effect on him, both emotionally and perhaps physically. The idea is he’s escaped this nightmare place, but has he really? That’s a place we wanted to go and potentially explore in season two. What effect does living in there for a week have on him?”

One theory posits that the tulip-faced monster has somehow managed to turn Will evil, and that he’ll become its human accomplice. Far-fetched, sure, but certainly not beyond the realms of possibility.

Is Papa returning for the new season?

Matthe Modine in Stranger Things Matthe Modine in Stranger Things Credit: Netflix

Nefarious Dr Martin Brenner – or "Papa" as Eleven refers to him as – was last seen being attacked by the “demogorgon” as it rampaged through the school. That the camera cut away means we don’t know for sure if he’s been bumped off. It’s unlikely. Speaking to French-language movie news site Premiere, the actor who plays him, Matthew Modine, was convinced that Strangers Things is no one-series wonder. “Oh, there will be a season two,” he said, bluntly. Expect him to be part of it.

Will Eleven and her mother meet at last?

While it's still to be confirmed, it has been strongly implied that the catatonic Terry is Eleven's mother. We're aware that she didn't know she was pregnant when she took part in the lab's mind-control experiments, which included taking vast quantities of LSD. The resulting child, Jane, was "born with abilities... telepathy – you know, s--- you can do with your mind," according to Terry's sister, Becky. Sounds uncannily like Eleven, doesn't it? Perhaps in season two, provided she's not dead, Eleven will be reunited with her (alleged) mother, and together, they'll drop the whole taciturn shtick.

Is the chief playing ball?

David Harbour as Chief Hopper David Harbour as Chief Hopper Credit: Netflix

The only reason Chief Hopper and Joyce (Winona Ryder), Will’s mother, were allowed to venture into monster-land was because the former vowed that, once they’d come back with the boy, they’d never utter a word about what they’d seen.

In the immediate aftermath, we watched him willingly get into a car with two sinister goons from the Hawkins National Laboratory. But during the season’s closing montage, set a month later, he and Joyce were jovially going about their lives. Is this because they’re honouring their promise? Or has the chief agreed to help the bad guys in some malevolent way?

Was the chief's daughter's death as straightforward as it seems?

Through a series of harrowing flashbacks in the first season, we found out that Hopper's daughter died of cancer, and that his wife then left him. But was it really cancer that killed Sarah? Think back to the scene in the woods in which she looks genuinely petrified and her parents are trying to comfort her – something clearly wasn't right. Perhaps she'd experienced a terrifying telepathic vision. Or maybe she'd caught a glimpse of the monster. Whatever it was that spooked her, it seems plausible that it may have brought on her illness.

In a recent Reddit AMA with David Harbour, a fan specifically asked him how his character’s daughter died. To which his response was, "Yes, but it’s a secret we may explore in [season two], so don’t wanna say right now.” This sounds like it could be major plot point.

When will the second season take place?

"You have to jump a year," Matt Duffer told IGN, "because like Gaten [Matarazzo, who plays Dustin], his voice has already dropped quite a bit, to the point where we couldn’t even do ADR [Additional Dialogue Recording] with him. We had to pitch it way up. It’s dropped. He’s grown. As much as I would love to have it be Christmas right after that, it’s just not feasible, so we’re going to skip a year. They’ll be a year older and all their changes they’re going through, we’ll take that into account and kind of work that into the show."

That season two will be set in 1984 means the Duffer brothers can pay their dues to what was a vintage year in cinema – think Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. "We're trying, hopefully, to capture a little bit of the magic of those films," said Matt Duffer of his plans for season two. "Something like Temple of Doom. I actually really love Temple of Doom. I love that it gets a little darker and weirder from Raiders [of the Lost Ark]."

Where did the monster come from?

Looking like a horrid hybrid of The Predator and the xenomorph from Alien, the “demogorgon” spent the first season terrorising a select few from the town of Hawkins. But has it always been skulking around these parts? Ross Duffer recently confirmed that a second season will tackle its origins story. “With the Upside Down,” he said, “we have a 30-page document that is pretty intricate in terms of what it all means, and where this monster actually came from, and why there aren’t more monsters.”

What happened to the other 10?

Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in Stranger Things Credit: Netflix

We're still none the wiser as to where Eleven's name comes from. Is she a clone? Is she the 11th person to have exhibited telekinetic powers at the Hawkins Lab? Maybe Brenner is just fond of the number and the way it rolls off the tongue. Who knows? According to Matt Duffer, though, we can expect "a lot more backstory built in for Brenner and Eleven".

What about Barb?

Nancy's geeky friend, played by Shannon Purser, was only in a few scenes in the first three episodes before she was dragged into the Upside Down by the “demogorgon” and seemingly devoured. But she left such an impression – the glasses, the frilled collar, the short red hair – that countless GIFsmurals, and T-shirts have since been created in her honour.

Barb

Sadly, this bona fide style icon won't be reappearing in season two. "I can’t see it happening,” Matt Duffer told IGN in a recent interview. "But Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it. It’s not like her parents are like ‘Oh Barb left. She died!’ Season one actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with season two is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.”

In an earlier interview, he explained the reasons for Barb's death. "With the first episode we wanted someone to die very quickly – which was the Benny character [the cook played by Chris Sullivan] – someone set up who looks like a substantial character and dies. And then Barb who looks like a substantial character. We wanted it to feel unsafe. Shannon Purser who played Barb, we fell in love with her. She had never acted before – this was her first role in anything. She blew us and everyone away. It was sad to lose her, but some people have to go."

A Barb prequel, anyone?

Melania Trump: 18 things you might not know about Donald Trump's wife - The Week UK

Melania Trump: 18 things you might not know about Donald Trump's wife - The Week UK

She could be the next first lady and yet little is known about Melania Trump. The 46-year-old wife of billionaire businessman Donald has kept a fairly low profile throughout his presidential campaign.

So what do we know about the life of Melania?

She could be the next Jackie Kennedy

Insiders warn the Slovenian ex-model should not be underestimated. Jackie Kennedy biographer Pamela Keogh told the Daily Mail that, just like JFK's iconic wife, Melania is "beautiful, smart and keeps her own counsel", with a chic fashion sense. As far back as 2000, she told the New York Times that if she were ever first lady, she would be "very traditional – like Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy".

She would be the only first lady to have posed nude

Three years before she met her husband, Melania posed nude alongside another female model for a French men's monthly magazine. In the "bombshell" photo set obtained by the New York Post, she is seen lying naked in a bed alongside Scandinavian model Emma Eriksson.

Jarl Ale de Basseville, the French fashion photographer who snapped the pictures, said the photos are "beauty and not porn". He said: "I always loved women together because I have been with a lot of women who desired the menage a trois."

An unnamed insider said Melania behaved "like a true professional" during the shoot and was "charming throughout". Asked about the photos, her husband said: "In Europe, pictures like this are very fashionable and common."

That is not the only time she's bared all

In 2000, Melania was photographed in the buff for GQ - one memorable image had her handcuffed to a briefcase on board a private jet belonging to her then boyfriend, Donald.

"We pushed the envelope a little," editor Dylan Jones says. "[It's] not exactly the kind of thing we could have asked anyone else to do – and we were surprised she said yes."

As for what kind of first lady Melania would make, he predicted: "Probably a very good one. It's her husband I'm worried about."

The US has never before seen so much of a potential first lady, although Pat Nixon and Betty Ford both had (clothed) modelling careers.

Melania and Michelle aren't exactly the best of friends…

"Presidential campaigns are tough, but among the First Ladies, there is usually an unspoken civility and sisterhood," says Fortune magazine. However, this doesn't appear to be the case between Michelle Obama and her potential successor during this election. Pundits quickly picked up that the Melania speech at the Republican national convention was strikingly similar to one delivered by Michelle back in 2008. The current First Lady has remained tight-lipped about the plagiarism episode – until now. Appearing on The Late Show this week she was asked by Stephen Colbert: "Melania was so criticised for using what turned out to be a portion of your speech, but do you have any sympathy [for her] because there are people around her creating things?"

Michelle smiled as she replied sarcastically: "Yeah, that was tough."

She also criticised political spouses who stand by their partners no matter what, the New York Post reports. "Bottom line is, if I didn't agree with what Barack was saying, I would not support his run," she said. "So I stand there proudly, and I hope they are, too, standing with their spouses proudly."

She had a creepy phone conversation with Howard Stern

In 1999, when her husband was running for president of the Reform party, Donald had a sexually charged conversation live on air with shock jock Howard Stern, who, speaking to the businessman, referred to her as "that broad in your bed".

Melania, "apparently scantily clad and conveniently sitting nearby", was summoned to the phone, Mother Jones reports. "With Stern oozing his creepiest charm, things rapidly got weird."

Stern insisted the former model should "put on your hottest outfit" for a night out with him and Donald. He then asked her what she was wearing. "Uh, not much," she replied.

"Are you naked? Are you nude?" Stern said.

"Almost," Trump said.

"Ahhh, I've got my pants off already," Stern said.

The "sex- and harassment-filled radio appearance didn't exactly strike [Donald] Trump as a bad move," Mother Jones says. In fact, later in the interview, the billionaire businessman told the DJ he often "mentally" felt Melania up in public, notes the New York Post.

Melania is Donald's third wife

Melania Trump, formerly Melania Knauss, started dating Donald in 1998, they married in 2005 and have one son, named Barron, together. Before Melania, Donald was married to Marla Maples, a television personality, former beauty queen and mother to Tiffany Trump. The couple were married for just a few years in the 1990s. Donald met Marla while he was still with his first wife Ivana Zelnickova, who was born in Czechoslovakia. They married in 1977 when Ivana was a 30-year-old model and later had three children together - Ivanka, Eric and Donald Trump Jr. The latter, the eldest of Donald's children, is now 38, eight years younger than Melania.

Ivana and Donald were leading socialites in New York during the 1980s, but very publicly divorced by 1992. Comedian Jennifer Saunders has admitted that some of the inspiration for Patsy Stone, played by Joanna Lumley, in Absolutely Fabulous came from Ivana, who often sports a high blond beehive. Melania might only be 46 but she is a step-grandmother to eight children.

The Clintons went to her wedding

When Melania and Donald married in 2005, Bill and Hillary Clinton were among the 350 guests. The wedding took place at the groom's landmark estate, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. According to GQ, the bride wore a $100,000 Dior dress with 1,500 crystals, which took a "legendary" 550 hours to make. It had a 13ft train and she wore a 16ft veil. However, it was so difficult to walk in that she changed into a Vera Wang hand-ruched silk tulle Grecian dress for the poolside after-party. Her 12-carat, emerald-cut Graff wedding ring was said to be worth £1.5m.

Melania's sister, Ines, was the maid of honour, with no other bridesmaids, and her groom's two sons, Donald Jr and Eric, served as best men. The guests, who also included Heidi Klum, Barbara Walters and Simon Cowell, "slurped caviar and Cristal in the shadow of a five-foot-tall Grand Marnier wedding cake", says the magazine. The seven-tier "chef-d'oeuvre" weighed more than 200lbs, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

She is the least popular presidential candidate spouse since Hillary

According to a Washington Post/ABC News poll, Melania is the least popular presidential candidate spouse since Hillary Clinton. The survey asked opinions on the spouses and running mates of both presidential candidates - Trump's husband, Donald, and his Democratic rival, Clinton.

Clinton's husband, former president Bill, came out as the most popular of the four, with more than half of respondents having a positive opinion of him. Clinton's prospective vice president, Tim Kaine, was next with a net favourability rating - those viewing him positively minus those viewing him negatively - of plus-19. Republican Mike Pence came in third, with plus-17, and Trump languished in last place, with the former model getting a net favourability rating of just plus-one.

"Melania Trump's popularity is lower than nearly any other recent candidate's spouse during an election year," the National Post says. "The most popular spouse was Barbara Bush, George H W Bush's wife. Michelle Obama was also viewed fairly positively at about this stage of 2012, though a little worse four years earlier, when she wasn't as well known.

"To find a spouse less positively viewed than Melania, you'd have to go back to January 1996 - and a presidential spouse named Hillary Clinton."

She speaks five languages

Slovenian, English, French, Serbian and German, if you want to know. That linguistic prowess could come in handy at White House functions, but it has been suggested her thick accent is the reason she makes few public appearances alongside her immigrant-bashing husband.

She grew up in communist Yugoslavia

Far away from the glamour of New York high society, Melania was raised in a concrete tower block in then Yugoslavia during the rule of Tito. If her husband becomes president, Melania would be the first first lady to be born in a communist nation and only the second to be born abroad, after Louisa Adams, the English wife of sixth president John Quincy.

She is raising her son as a "mini-Donald"

Barron, the couple's nine-year-old son, apparently loves wearing a suit and tie and playing golf with his dad. He is also said to share his father's love of bossing people around. "I call him mini-Donald. He fired nannies, fired housekeepers," Trump said in a 2011 interview, adding that he quickly hired them back.

She has a secret half-brother

While preparing a profile of the potential first lady for GQ, reporter Julia Ioffe made a startling discovery – Melania's father, Victor Knavs, a car dealership manager whom she has described as traditional and hardworking, fathered a secret son before marrying the model's mother.

Knavs agreed to pay child support after a court battle in which his claim that he was not Denis Cigelnjak's father was disproven by a paternity test, but he has never contacted his son nor acknowledged his existence. Now aged 50, Cigelnjak still lives in the family's native Slovenia.

Melania initially said the reports were false, but later, confronted with court documents, claimed she had misunderstood the question and had known about her half-brother "for years".

When the article appeared in GQ, Ioffe was bombarded with hateful tweets, including anti-Semitic abuse, from supporters of the family. "I don’t agree with what they're doing," Melania told DuJour. "But there are people out there who maybe went too far. She provoked them."

She supports her husband's hardline stance on immigration

Although it's not surprising for a candidate's wife to back her husband's policies, some were taken aback by Melania's enthusiasm for the Republican's tough rhetoric on migrants, having immigrated to the US herself.

"I follow the law," she told an MSNBC interviewer. "I never thought to stay here without papers."

When pressed about her husband's questionable comments on "criminals" crossing the border into the US, Melania was equally unfazed. "I don't feel he insulted the Mexicans," she said. "He said 'illegal immigrants'."

But questions are being asked about her own path to citizenship

Questions about Melania's immigration status arose shortly after the New York Post published nude photos from the beginning of her career in 1996. Doubts arose about when and how the Slovenian ex-model had acquired her US citizenship after the pictures appeared to suggest she had begun working in the US earlier than was previously known.

News website Univision later published the "sensational" claim that an immigration attorney who worked for the Trump organisation said Trump gained her green card "based on marriage" four years prior to meeting Donald.

Melania had previously claimed in an interview with talk show host Larry King that she had never been married prior to her union with Trump.

Michael Wildes, who handled legal work to obtain visas and green cards for Miss Universe when Trump owned the pageant, told Univision that he was authorised by the Trump Organisation "to speak on the matters concerning Melania". But, in an interview with the group's investigative unit, said he could not comment on how Trump became a US permanent resident.

"Ms Trump received citizenship in 2006 and prior to that she had a green card based on marriage," he said in a recorded interview by phone. "Before that, she had a work visa and was in full compliance on her visas and never disrespected any of them. That has been made clear to me."

Melania's journey to becoming a US citizen has become a matter of media interest following her husband's campaign promise to crack down on illegal immigrants.

White is her new black

Several commentators have noted that the potential next inhabitant of the White House has a wardrobe to match, appearing in the colour in many public appearances.

Most recently, she dazzled delegates in Cleveland with a close-fitting white number by Serbian-born designer Roksanda Ilincic, a favourite of fellow political spouses Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron. So why does Trump dress in white so often?

Part of the reason is practical, Vogue Australia editor Edwina McCann told News.com.au: "White is good under harsh lighting and down lighting. It also says 'control' or 'I don't spill anything'."

However, there's a subtle message there, too: "It also says a bottomless dry-cleaning budget."

Some commentators noted an unintentional link between Trump's wardrobe and her husband's xenophobic policies.

"Whether she intended it or not, her all-white ensemble displayed the kind of foreignness that is accepted by her husband's faction of the political party," says Philly.com's Elizabeth Wellington. "To many, that outfit could be another reminder that in the GOP, white is always right."

And she does wish Donald would "act more presidential"

During a rally in Arizona, Donald told the crowd that both his wife and his eldest daughter, Ivanka, don't entirely approve of his behaviour.

"My wife and my daughter said to me, 'Act presidential! Act presidential!'" he said.

Melania insists she isn't shy when it comes to giving her husband political advice. "I give him my opinions, many, many times," she told CNN. "I don't agree with everything that he says but, you know, that is normal," she added.

"I'm my own person, I tell him what I think. I'm standing very strong on the ground on my two feet and I'm my own person. And I think that's very important in the relationship."

And to stop tweeting

Donald has never been content to confine his gaffes to the real world. Throughout his presidential campaign, he has become embroiled in rows over his tweets on one occasion describing Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington "unattractive inside and outside", adding that he understood why "her husband left for a man".

A less pugnacious but nonetheless bizarre post mused that singer Katy Perry "must have been drunk" to marry Russell Brand.

The would-be president has also been notably careless with whom he exchanges tweets and has twice cited an account going by the name @WhiteGenocideTM.

It's all become a bit much for his wife. Asked by NBC's Today show what habit she would like to see her husband give up, Melania didn't have to ponder her answer for long. "Let's see," she said. "The tweeting."

On her own account, Melania mostly sticks to the blandest of updates – the New York skyline features heavily, as do photos of food and fashion, alongside a few innocuous snaps from the campaign trail.

But ultimately, she could prove to be his secret weapon

"Dismiss her at your peril," insiders told the Telegraph. "She's beautiful, sassy and smart."

While it may have become a cliche in US politics, Trump could be just what her husband's campaign needs - especially if he ends up going head-to-head with Hillary Clinton.  "In his wife, [Donald] Trump may have the secret weapon he needs to help keep that Trump surge going strong," says CNN.
